November 2020

I have spent the past few months working on an exciting new project: a free- standing, mosaic sculpture.  The idea has been gestating in my imagination for a few years now and I even made an earlier, unsuccessful start; defeated at that time by unccoperative armature materials.  Finally last September, the idea gelled.  With plenty of time to work out issues as they presented themselves, and a strong, workable armature material, I've been steaming along finally.  It's not quite done at this writing.  I'm still fussing with a few details and then I have the monstrous grouting job to tackle.  But the bulk of the work is done and what is left is time consuming and fussy but straightforward.  I'm hoping that more sculpture will follow over time!

I finished a new sculpture, this one is fitted with interior plumbing to connect to a pond pump!  My new interest in three dimensional mosaic rolls on.

And here is this past winter's sculpture project:  The Great Golden Rooster of Forest Avenue.  I just got him grouted, sealed and out into the garden today!

Great Blue Mosaic will be showing work publicly for the first time since 2019, October 22 and 23, 2022 at the Fort Andross Mill in Brunswick, Maine as part of the Juried Guild of the Maine Crafts Association.  10am - 4pm  I hope to see you there!
